A lucky 48 guests enjoyed a three course luncheon featuring the season's strawberries. Two groups of 24 sat down at 4 beautifully decorated tables. They started with a first course of Strawberry Soup, followed by a main of Chicken or Egg Salad, Spinach and Strawberry Salad and a Croissant. But the triumph of the luncheon was the Strawberry Shortcake. One of our members made all the biscuits and they were piled high with strawberries and whipped cream.
This fund raiser for the Rutland Garden Club has been a highlight of the year for a long time. Many members contributed to it's success. They made all the food, ran the kitchen, served the meal and cleaned up. One of our members volunteers her beautiful home and the table settings. She also made lovely place cards, recipe cards and favors for every guest.
Another member gave a floral arrangement presentation after the lunch and we had a successful raffle of baskets, paintings and other items donated by members. What an effort! But a lot of fun for everyone involved.
