Each year members of the Rutland Garden Club meet to fill the containers and window boxes that brighten up the center of Rutland with flowers. Local businesses contribute annually to buy the plants and the Park Department waters them throughout the season. This year a cadre of pink shirted volunteers met in the early morning to plant the containers, which the Park Department will put in place. Our hardworking leader in this effort had already placed potted plants in the window boxes downtown, so they only needed to be tucked into their beds by these same volunteers. A few hours later and Rutland looked a brighter more colorful city!
