Our eagle eyed members noticed that the four Welcome to Rutland Signs on the North, South, East and West roads leading into our city, were embedded in a raised bed filled with weeds! They sprang into action. They approached the Parks & Recreation Department and the Mayor and received full enthusiastic cooperation. The Parks & Recreation Dept. will create a long item budet item for future upkeep and will purchase 200 tulip bulbs to brighten up then up in the spring. Our club donated the annuals and provided the workers.
At the top right you can see one of the transformed beds and on the left, a " before photo" filled with weeds.
Four of our members planted the gardens and will tend and weed them. They are posing with one of their creations below right! Employees of the Parks Dept. will mulch and water them.
Our Mayor explained that beautifying our city was a high priority for him as it is for the Rutland Garden Club. Together we make it work!
