Spring flowers were everywhere at our Annual Meeting Tuesday May 14th! Most of our members gathered at the Rutland Country Club for our meeting, a wonderful luncheon and an inspiring guest speaker, Tara Pollio. Tara is owner of "Tara Pollio Event Designs" in Manchester, VT. She has been featured in MODwedding, Brides and Martha Stewart Weddings. She told stories about her experiences designing and providing flowers for weddings and other events. Under her skillful fingers several gorgeous flower arrangements unfolded.
We have a number of exciting events coming up soon and several tables were set up with sign up sheets for the Strawberry Luncheon on June 21, the Plant/Bake/Book Sale on May 18 and the Flower Show coming up this fall. Another table had creative packaging donated by one of our talented and generous members. Our baked goods will not only be delicious but beautifully presented. As always we'll be meeting to fill the window boxes and planters with lovely flowers to decorate Rutland in early June. And with 20 gardens throughout the city to maintain, we work hard to beautify our community! Blog posts on those events will be up soon!
Our president presided over the meeting. We had many successful events already this year with many more scheduled. For example, a few weeks ago members worked with residents of the Pines to make lovely flower arrangements for their rooms and the public areas, She welcomed our new members, seven of which were present. Our Membership Chairwomen gave each a beautiful bouquet.
A delicious lunch was served followed by a nicely decorated cake to celebrate our One Hundred and Tenth Anniversary.
